The Academy of the City Charter School is now a very grown-up eight-year-old. We continue to enjoy extraordinary loyalty from our parents and staff members. Our test score results continue to rise and outperform the district by more than 10 percentage points.

The big news for the future is that the board and the administration are hard at work planning a middle school, which we expect to open in the fall of 2019 and in the fall of 2020 we expect to open a new facility to house grades 5-8.

AoC remains deeply committed to the kind of arts programs that children at New York's finest schools enjoy. We've begun an after-school program with a Broadway set designer and planning to offer a dance program.  We are hoping to raise $10,000 to continue to support the arts.

AoC expects teachers to improve their crafts not just through professional development but by traveling to avail themselves of in-depth training. Several have done so, with wonderful results. We would list to set aside $10,000 for this purpose.

The Board of AoC gives every graduating fifth-grader $200 in a so-called 529 account, tax-free savings account designed to accrue until a student reaches college age. This year we will double the cost to $22,000 because we have four graduating classes rather than two.

Thank you for your support which makes it possible for AoC to be the kind of school that we always dreamed it would be.
